A new school year is almost here, and I am working hard to prepare a classroom where every first grader has the tools they need to grow as a reader.

This year, our district is requiring first grade classrooms to use UFLI phonics instruction. During these lessons, students will use magnetic letter tiles to build words and practice the sound patterns they are learning. This hands on practice is especially important for young readers because it helps them connect the sounds they hear to the letters they see.

However, the magnetic letters and phonics boards students need were not provided. A set for just six students costs approximately $65, and I need enough materials for every child in my classroom. Purchasing complete sets for an entire class is more than I can manage on my own.

I have added the hand2mind phonics boards and magnetic letter sets to my classroom Amazon Wishlist. I also included $10 Amazon gift cards for anyone who would like to contribute but cannot purchase a complete set. Every gift card will be combined and used to help purchase these much needed phonics materials.

Small gifts make a big impact!

Every contribution truly makes a difference. A $10 gift may not seem like enough to fund an entire set, but when several people give a little, we can place these important learning tools into the hands of every student.

My students attend a Title I school, and many families are not able to provide additional classroom materials. Your support helps ensure that every child can participate fully, regardless of what their family can afford.
